Oman's Ministry of Labour (MoL) has arrested 11 expatriates for violating the labour law in Muscat governorate.

The ministry has recently carried out a number of inspection campaigns which resulted in the arrest of these individuals.

A statement issued by MoL said that the General Directorate of Labour Welfare, in cooperation with Royal Oman Police (ROP) carried out inspection campaigns in Muscat "for private residential homes in which unlicensed businesses are practised." 

"Eleven workers have been arrested in violation of the provisions of the labour law," the statement read.

Legal measures are being taken against them, the ministry added.

The statement has not disclosed their nationalities.
