Israel's airstrikes in southern Lebanon and Bekaa Valley on Monday, Sep. 23 killed 182 people and wounded 727 people, Lebanon's health ministry reported.

The Israeli army announced their plans for airstrikes early Monday morning. The army hit 300 targets in Lebanon, which led to people in the south fleeing to the north.

The health ministry reported that the wounded included women, children, and paramedics. Schools and other educational institutions have been converted to shelters in southern Lebanon for displaced individuals leaving their homes in the south after receiving orders from the country's Interior Minister.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said his country will intensify its attacks on Hezbollah sites in Lebanon and carry out a ground invasion in Bekaa Valley. The Israeli army has ordered people living near these sites to leave their homes.

Hagari said, "We are preparing to strike the Lebanon valley soon...You see the action we are taking ... stay away from them for your own protection."

According to the Lebanese telecom company Ogero, Israel made more than 80,000 eviction calls on Monday, ordering Lebanese people to leave parts of the country.

Fourteen airlines have stopped their flights to Lebanon and there is a significant decrease in movement at the country's Rafic Hariri International Airport.

The airstrikes in southern Lebanon and Bekaa Valley were soon followed by Hezbollah firing rockets at Haifa. Most of the rockets were intercepted while others hit open areas, but there were no injuries reported, according to the Israeli military.

Classes will be suspended on Tuesday, Sep. 24 in most schools and educational institutions in Lebanon including institutions in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, the north, Akkar, the south, Nabatieh, Bekaa, and Baalbek Hermel.
