The Omani Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs (MERA) has announced that 33,536 people registered online to perform the Hajj pilgrimage for the 1444 AH season.

The figures included 29,930 applications from Omani citizens, and 3,606 from expatriates residing in Oman, MERA revealed.

Most of the applications are from Dakhiliyah with 5,701 people registering, followed by North Batinah, and Muscat with 5,016 and 4,739 people, respectively.

People could register for the Hajj 2023 via the website: https://hajj.om from February 21st to March 4th.

Some 14,000 pilgrims from Oman are expected to take part in the annual ritual this year, with names being announced "soon," the ministry said without setting a timeframe.

The Hajj 2023 rituals will begin on the evening of Sunday, June 25th, and last through the evening of Friday, June 30th, 2023. The actual date will depend on the moon sighting in Dhul Hijjah, 1444, the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar; this is the potential date.
