On Tuesday, October 18, the Qatar Amateur Radio Association inaugurated 9 wireless stations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where the main station will be at the association's headquarters, while the rest of the sub-stations will be connected to the eight World Cup stadiums.

This came during a press conference held by the association, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Amateur Radio Association, and a number of the association's officials and members.

His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah said, in a statement after the inauguration of the radio stations: “The inauguration of the amateur radio stations accompanying the World Cup is a global custom carried out by the Amateur Radio Associations and clubs in the countries hosting the FIFA World Cup, where it establishes wireless hobby stations, and a distinctive call sign is allocated to the stations, which expresses the country’s hosting of this world championship.”

His Excellency pointed out that the association or club in the host country of the World Cup opens the station sometime before the start of the tournament to highlight the activities and events, and all the news that accompanies the tournament for all wireless amateurs in the world.

His Excellency expected that a number of senior officials in the countries of world would attend the World Cup events, including wireless amateurs, as well as their remarkable attendance at the Qatar wireless amateurs’ station for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, to record their personal communications coinciding with this global event in the State of Qatar.

For his part, Mr. Sabaan Mesmar Mubarak Al-Jassem, Secretary of the Amateur Radio Association, affirmed the association's readiness to participate in the World Cup activities, through Qatari amateurs, who will be the best ambassadors representing the state and the association to highlight this historic event, in a manner befitting its position at the international level.

The Qatar wireless Amateur Association aims to develop the wireless hobby among citizens, and regulate its practice in accordance with the laws in force locally and internationally, in addition to establishing human and international relations between amateurs in the State of Qatar and their colleagues abroad, which allows introducing Qatar and its renaissance, and participating in the preparation of technical cadres that provide services, Humanitarian, in emergencies and relief of ships, aircraft, etc.
