American Matteo Jorgenson Wins Tour of Oman 2023 Title

American road bicycle racer Matteo Jorgenson, who rides for Movistar Team, won the Tour of Oman today, February 15th, after keeping his rivals at bay on the climb up Jabal Al Akhdar.
This victory makes the 23-year-old cyclist the youngest winner of the Tour of Oman.
He also won 'Best Young Rider' for the second consecutive day, along with the 'Individual Time' and 'Individual Points' awards.
Stage 5 and the final challenge of the tour, 152.2km, took place from Al Fayhaa Resthouse in the Wilayat of Samail to Jabal Al Akhdhar.
"Today was about the team, they were super strong and gave me super support. It the end it was about confidence and doing my best on the climb if I could," Jorgenson said.
Belgian queen stage winner Mauri Vansevenant came in second place only five seconds behind Jorgenson then he gained four seconds thanks to the time bonuses, making him behind Jorgenson by a single second.
French cyclist Geoffrey Bouchard, who rides for AG2R Citroën Team, ranked third.
Some 18 global teams representing Europe, Asia, America, and Australia are competing in the 12th edition of Tour of Oman, which kicked off on Saturday, February 11th.
