BTS Member J-Hope Discharged from Military Service

Member of the globally-renowned K-pop boy group, BTS, J-Hope was discharged from military service in South Korea on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The pop singer was released from service after 18 months and is the second member of the K-pop group to be discharged from the military. 

J-Hop was discharged after Jin who finished his service in June this year. 

After his release, J-Hope reunited with Jin outside of the military base in Wonju, Gangwon province and also greeted fans and reporters with a smile. 

The singer thanked the fans and expressed gratitude to the military for its service to South Korea. 

Shares in HYBE, the label that manages BTS, increased by seven percent in the early afternoon trade on Thursday versus a flat wider market. 

The BTS members are expected to be reunited in 2025 after all the members have completed their service with four still with the military. 

Since their debut in 2013, BTS has sold more than 56 million physical albums and singles. The K-pop group also had six of its albums rank number one on the Billboard 200. 

Fans are eagerly waiting for BTS' return to the K-pop industry.
