The 2024/2025 camel racing season is officially underway! The Oman Camel Racing Federation has launched the first leg of its annual local races at the Al-Bashir Camel Race Track in Wilayat Adam, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The three-day event is already proving to be a major hit, featuring 18 competitive rounds today in the Hajjaj category, with over 650 camels from across Oman vying for victory.

Today’s races covered a 3-kilometer distance, with 12 rounds for young camels and 6 rounds for Jaadan camels. Fans gathered to witness some thrilling finishes, as prominent camels and their owners claimed top spots.

Notable wins included Imad Al-Junaibi’s /Tamweel/ in the first round and Badr Al-Junaibi’s /Shaheen/ in the second. Each race had its own flair, with Saeed Al-Jahhafi’s /Malfat/ and Muslim Al-Durai’s /Midhiyar/ also clinching victories in rounds three and four, respectively.

The competition continues tomorrow with the Al-Laqaya category, which will feature 12 more rounds over a 4-kilometer track. Stay tuned for more action as Oman’s camel racing season charges ahead!
