Carlos Yulo has made history once again by winning his second gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the men’s vault event. Yulo’s impressive performance earned him an average score of 15.116 across two vault routines.
Key Vault Scores Lead to Victory
Yulo's first vault was the highlight, scoring a remarkable 15.433, followed by a solid 14.800 on his second attempt, sealing his victory. Armenia's Artur Davtyan secured the silver with 14.966, and Great Britain's Harry Hepworth took bronze with 14.949.
Yulo Reflects on His Achievement
“Winning yesterday took away all of my stress,” Yulo shared. “Today I was more chilled and relaxed. It helped me give it all because there was nothing to lose anymore. And that's what happened. It's so crazy, I don't know what to feel right now.”
A Hero's Welcome Awaits
Yulo is looking forward to the warm reception he will receive upon returning home. His gold medal wins have also earned him a fully furnished, two-bedroom condominium in Taguig City, a reward promised to Filipino gold medalists at the Paris Games.
A Historic Moment for the Philippines
This achievement marks the first time the Philippines has won two gold medals in a single Olympics. Yulo previously won gold in the artistic gymnastics men's floor event earlier in the week, further solidifying his place in Olympic history.
