According to a statement published online by the Directorate General of Customs, Al Wajajah customs foiled an effort to smuggle more than 4,000 packs of cigarettes that were concealed in a trailer-mounted caravan.
The Directorate General of Customs was formed for the purpose of carrying out customs processes and security supervision on imports and exports. Furthermore, it involves enforcing agreed-upon laws and regulations, collecting customs taxes and charges, fighting smuggling, and preventing the entry of illegal products.
Al Wajajah port, which is located on the Omani side of the border with the United Arab Emirates (Emirate of Dubai), is known for being one of the five busiest Omani land ports.
In Oman, Al Wajajah is situated in the administrative region of Al Batinah. The city may be reached by car in 90 minutes from Dubai, one hour from Sohar in Oman, and three hours from Muscat, the country's capital.
