Elon Musk Goes Viral for Salute During Presidential Parade
The tech billionaire Elon Musk went viral for his alleged Nazi salute during the Presidential Parade on Monday, Jan. 20.
Musk gave a speech at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, during which he said, "This was a fork in the road of human civilisation...This one really mattered. Thank you for making it happen! Thank you."
The tech billionaire then slapped his right hand on his chest before extending his arm at an upward angle with his palm down and fingers together.
He then turned to face the crowd behind him and repeated the gesture. His actions drew scrutiny online from netizens aligning his salute with the infamous Sieg Heil salute associated with Adolf Hitler.
Musk responded to the controversy by writing on X, "The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired". He also said that his critics needed "better dirty tricks".
Elon Musk has been tasked with leading the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency in Trump’s administration.
