Expat Faces Two-Year Sentence for Fatal Crash in Oman


An expat has been sentenced to two years in prison and permanent deportation after being found guilty of reckless driving that caused a fatal crash in Oman. The incident, which took place on the Liwa highway, resulted in four deaths and 15 injuries.
The Liwa Primary Court determined that the defendant, Mohamad Faras, drove at high speed in the wrong direction on a divided road, endangering lives and property. Faras was convicted of reckless driving and driving against traffic, with a two-year prison sentence for the former and a three-month sentence for the latter. The longer sentence will take precedence.
In addition to the prison time, the court revoked Faras' driving license for one year and ordered his permanent deportation after completing his jail term. He was also required to pay legal expenses.
This case highlights the severe consequences of reckless driving and emphasizes the importance of following traffic laws to ensure public safety. The investigation is still ongoing.
