The Palm has many options for residents to live and is suitable for a range of budgets. Today, the 17 fronds are home to around 1,500 beachfront mansions, with a further 6,000 apartments on the trunk. All of this would not stand if the Palm did not have incredibly good foundations, foundations that were created from 7 million tons of rock blasted from the nearby Hajar Mountains. And whilst the desert emirate is surrounded by sand, 120 million cubic meters of the stuff were dredged from the bottom of the sea to form the island.
Dubai is also creating another two Palms and have already created The World to accompany Palm Jumeriah. The other two are called Palm Jabel Ali and Palm Deira.
