The 83-year-old Japanese adventurer, Kenichi Hori, returned home on Saturday after successfully completing his solo non-stop voyage across the Pacific Ocean using a sailboat from San Francisco to the Kii Strait off the Japanese coast. Hori's 69-day journey began in March becoming the oldest person to reach this milestone.

Horie has also made a number of other long-distance solo trips, including sailing around the world in 1974, and is reported to have made a non-stop solo trip in 2008 on a wave-powered boat from Hawaii to Kii Strait.

A welcome ceremony is scheduled to take place today, Sunday, to celebrate this great achievement.
