Muscat Municipality has announced that individuals will have the option of applying for camping permits through their online portal.

“Due to an increase in demand for camping permits, especially at this time of the year, the municipality has created an online portal for individuals wishing to obtain camping permits in the Muscat governorate,’ the Municipality announced in an issued circular.

The circular also highlighted that anyone planning to camp for more than 48 hours can only do so after “obtaining a prior permit from the competent directorate, and paying a security deposit of RO100, which is valid for seven nights.”

Among the innovative services further provided by the municipality, is an interactive map allowing campers to choose from a list of sites in Muscat.

Violators of the controls and requirements will be punished with an administrative fine of RO200 when camping without a permit, while an administrative fine of RO50 will be imposed in case of non-compliance with any of the rules or regulations for camping, the authority’s statement added.

Permits can be obtained by applying through: https://eservices.mm.gov.om/Home/Service/MTA  and filling out the required form.
