NRIs in Oman, UAE, KSA, Qatar Can Make UPI Payment Soon

Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in Oman and nine other countries will soon be able to transfer funds online using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services with their international mobile numbers without having to depend on their Indian phone number.
The other countries are UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore, the US, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, and the UK, according to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Wednesday.
The Non-Residential External (NRE) and Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) bank accounts with international mobile numbers will be able to transact using the instant real-time payment system.
Partner banks are given time until April 30 to comply with the directions, and they have to ensure that such accounts are allowed according to the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) regulations, and afollow the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
