F2 driver Oliver Bearman will make his F1 debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2024 because Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Jr. has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will require surgery.
Bearman became Ferrari's reserve driver at the start of 2024 as he has been part of Ferrari's young driver development programme since 2022 and he also completed his first F1 test with the team in October 2023.
Ferrari announced the news on social media ahead of FP3 on Friday, Mar. 8.

Bearman will no longer be participating in the ongoing round of the F2 championship after securing the pole with Prema for the F2 race in Jeddah.
We wish him all the best with his F1 debut and we wish Carlos Sainz a speedy recovery!
