Oman Announces Feb 19th as Public Holiday for Al-Israa wal Miraaj
Oman has announced that Sunday, February 19th will be an official holiday for the public and private sectors in the country on the occasion of Al-Israa wal Miraaj.
The decision applies to all ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and institutions.
Al-Israa wal Miraaj, known as Prophet Muhammad's Ascension or the Night Journey, originally falls on Saturday, February 18th, which is already a rest day, and therefore the holiday was replaced by the new date to give Omanis a long weekend.
Work will resume on Monday, February 20th.
