Today, Oman marks Omani Women’s Day, a national celebration that recognizes the significant role women play in shaping the nation’s growth. This year’s theme, “Women as Partners in Development,” highlights their contributions to various sectors such as politics, economy, culture, and education, while emphasizing their essential part in the country’s sustainable development efforts.

Women’s Role in the Workforce
According to the latest data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), Omani women are active in both the public and private sectors. As of June 2024, there are 100,450 Omani women working in the public sector and 119,593 in private businesses. The statistics also show that 57% of the country’s artisans are women, further illustrating their role in Oman’s diverse economy.
Contributions to Oman Vision 2040
Omani Women’s Day is also a moment to highlight how women contribute to Oman’s long-term goals, particularly the Oman Vision 2040, which aims to create a more diversified and sustainable economy. Women’s leadership and participation in various fields are seen as key drivers for the nation’s future development.
Impact on Education
Education plays a crucial part in empowering Omani women. Currently, there are 366,532 girls enrolled in public schools, with another 62,212 attending private institutions. Female teachers also make up a significant portion of the education workforce, with 40,368 in public schools and 6,793 in private ones, contributing to the next generation’s growth.
