Oman Climbs in Global Passport Rankings for 2024


Oman has climbed seven spots to secure the 58th position in the Henley Passport Index for the first half of 2024. This ranking, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), reflects the increasing global mobility for Omani citizens.
Increase in Visa-Free Travel
In 2023, Oman was ranked 65th, with its passport holders enjoying visa-free access to 82 countries. This number has now risen to 86 destinations, marking a significant improvement in travel freedom for Omanis.
GCC Passport Rankings
Within the GCC, the UAE has achieved a historic milestone by entering the top ten for the first time. The UAE passport now allows visa-free access to 185 destinations, a remarkable increase of 152 destinations since 2006. This achievement has propelled the UAE from 62nd to ninth place.
Other GCC Countries
Following the UAE in the GCC rankings are:
- Qatar, ranked 46th with visa-free travel to 107 countries
- Kuwait, ranked 49th with access to 99 countries
- Saudi Arabia, ranked 56th with 88 destinations
- Bahrain, ranked 57th with 87 destinations
