The finale of the Oman Golf Trophy, which is a diplomacy initiative, will take place at Al Mouj Golf in Muscat from March 3rd to 7th.
The initiative is part of a public-private partnership to create more investment and tourism opportunities in Oman to achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040, and to strengthen Oman and Italy's diplomatic ties.
The Oman Golf Trophy was created by the Honorary Consul of Oman in Milan, Italy Francisco Palau Grieg and the CEO of Daud Group Ali Daud. They launched the tournament with the help of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth.
The Italian leg of the Oman Gulf Trophy was played across various prestigious golf courses in Italy between September and November 2022. Fourteen players qualified for the grand finale in Muscat from 800 participants. The finale will provide local golfers with an opportunity to play alongside golfers from Italy, while the latter will also have the opportunity to visit Oman's popular destinations such as Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
Undersecretary for Sports and Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Basil Al Rawas said "the grand finale will provide a great opportunity to continue promoting the Sultanate of Oman, utilising golf, as it is one of the most popular elite sports in the world. Having hosted seven events in Italy, it is amazing to be closing the tournament in Oman as there are many benefits to be achieved at all levels, particularly for promoting sports tourism and boosting the economy.”
Al Mouj Golf is visited by 16,000 golfers annually and it is ranked among World's Top 100 Golf Courses.
