Oman Launches Sirb Platform to Manage Drone Operations
First electronic system dedicated to drone regulation unveiled in the Sultanate
Oman's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in partnership with SIRB Company, has officially launched the Sirb Platform, the country’s first electronic system for regulating and managing drone operations. The platform aims to streamline registration and licensing processes while ensuring safe drone usage across the Sultanate.
Streamlined Drone Management
The Sirb Platform allows amateur drone operators to register, complete a basic knowledge test, and obtain licenses. It also designates authorized flight zones in collaboration with military and security authorities to ensure safe operations.
H.E. Eng. Naif bin Ali al Abri, Chairman of the CAA, emphasized the importance of the initiative. "This is a major step for Oman's aviation sector. It’s the first platform in the Middle East designed to manage drone air traffic and represents over four years of collaboration between government entities and an Omani team," he said.
Supporting Technological Growth
Malik bin Mohammed al Nabhani, co-founder and CEO of Sirb, explained that the platform provides clear guidance on permitted and restricted flight zones, contributing to the safe and structured development of the drone industry in Oman.

Licensed by the CAA in 2024, the Sirb Platform is expected to enhance regulatory oversight and support technological advancements in drone operations. This move highlights Oman’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies while maintaining airspace safety.
