The Oman Meteorological Office has issued a warning for heavy rainfall and strong winds in several governorates on Tuesday. The rain is expected to start at 12pm and continue until 9pm.

The following governorates are expected to be affected:

  • Al Dhakhiliya
  • Al Dhahira
  • Al Burai
  • North al Sharqiyah
  • South al Sharqiyah
  • South al Batinah
  • North al Batinah

Rainfall is expected to range between 10 and 30 mm, and winds are expected to reach speeds of between 20 and 40 knots.

By midday on Tuesday, clouds were observed forming over various parts of the Hajar Mountains in Oman. Weather experts noted that there was a chance of these clouds expanding and bringing with them scattered rain, sometimes thundery, accompanied by active winds and hail.

Clouds were also forming over parts of the Dhofar Mountains, with the chance of scattered rain later in the day.

Residents are advised to take precautions, such as avoiding low-lying areas and crossing wadis.
