The Royal Oman Police have reported that nine people, including three attackers, were killed in an attack on a Shia Muslim mosque in Oman on late Monday.
Victims and Casualties Identified
Among the victims were four Pakistani nationals, one Indian, and a policeman. Additionally, 28 people from various nationalities were injured, including security personnel, according to officials from Pakistan and Oman.

Attack During Ashura Observance
The assault occurred as Shia Muslims were observing Ashura, a period of mourning for Hussein, the Prophet Mohammad's grandson. While Ashura can sometimes spark sectarian tensions between Sunni and Shia Muslims in some countries, it is usually peaceful in Oman.
