Oman will implement various tax incentives and customs from July 1st to promote the purchase of electric cars for achieving zero neutrality in the transportation sector.
The incentives include a 100% exemption of electric cars from customs tax and from payment of electric vehicle registration fees at the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
Furthermore, the government has set the value-added tax rate of an electric vehicle and its spare parts to 0%.
These incentives will be implemented for 3 years, subject to extension, and they will be effective from July 1st, 2023.
The government has introduced these incentives to encourage people in Oman to purchase electric vehicles by decreasing the initial cost, which will support the electric vehicle sector and create diversity in transport types and prices in the Omani market.
