Oman is stepping up its digital transformation plan, with the government announcing that nearly 80% of essential public services will be available online by 2025. The shift is part of a major push to make government operations more accessible, efficient, and tech-friendly for citizens and businesses alike.

Key Digital Milestones Set for 2025

Oman’s new digital platforms will integrate crucial services through a unified government portal and mobile app. This will streamline how residents interact with government services, from applying for permits to accessing legal or health services.

In 2024, the government's digital program, Tahawul, has already made impressive strides, with its performance jumping from 53% to 73% by November 2024.

What’s Already Been Achieved?

Several key government entities, including Muscat Governorate, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and the Oman Investment Authority, have already reached high standards in digital transformation.

In total, 11 new mobile apps for government services were launched in 2024, covering everything from social development to business services. Notably, the Tatwir and Amlak platforms for real estate and the Naqi platform for air quality data stand out as important tools for residents.

The Unified Government Portal

The crown jewel of this transformation is the Government Unified Portal for E-Government Services. Set for launch this February 2025, the portal will act as a central hub for all government-related services. It’s already reached 73% of its goals, with further enhancements planned.

Data Integration and Efficiency

A huge boost to Oman’s digital government is the National Digital Integration Platform, which has already processed over 1.4 billion data transactions since its launch in 2017. This platform facilitates seamless data sharing between government departments, contributing to faster and more efficient service delivery.

Oman’s Digital Success Recognized Internationally

Oman’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. The country has gained international recognition for its digital strides, ranking 41st globally in the 2024 UN E-Government Survey and winning awards for its transparency and tech adoption, including a top honor at the World Summit on the Information Society.
