The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) is setting up a representative office in Singapore to help promote Oman as a top travel destination in Southeast Asia, specifically targeting markets like Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. This move is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about Oman and increase tourism from the region.
Expanding Oman’s Visibility
The representative will be tasked with executing Oman’s marketing strategy in these countries, focusing on building business relationships and highlighting Oman’s tourism offerings. A major goal is to position Oman as a leading choice for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) events.
Promoting Oman Through Strategic Partnerships
MHT has released a tender for firms to bid on managing the office. The chosen firm will work on co-marketing partnerships with international trade partners, raise awareness about Oman’s attractions, and increase the country’s participation in trade programs.
Media Relations and Crisis Management
A key component of the initiative will be using media relations to boost Oman’s image as a travel destination. This includes working with journalists, influencers, and bloggers to promote Oman across digital, print, and broadcast channels. Additionally, the firm will handle crisis management if any challenges arise in Oman’s tourism reputation in these markets.
Collaboration with MHT’s Global Agency
The selected firm will collaborate closely with MHT’s global communication agency to ensure a unified brand message. They will also provide regular updates on their activities to align with the ministry’s annual tourism objectives.
Call for Proposals
Companies interested in managing the office are invited to submit proposals that outline their plans for business development, trade marketing, and media relations. Proposals will be evaluated based on their ability to deliver results and expand Oman’s presence in the competitive Southeast Asian tourism market. The tender closes on December 31, after the document sale ended on December 8.
