Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Forecasted Across Oman

In response to the impending severe weather conditions forecasted across various regions of Oman, the Ministry of Social Development has taken precautionary measures by suspending work in both governmental and private rehabilitation centers and nurseries.

This decision, effective immediately, excludes only the governorates of Al Wusta and Dhofar. The temporary closure aims to ensure the safety and well-being of staff and attendees amid the anticipated heavy rainfall and potential flash floods.

The Ministry of Social Development, in alignment with the National Committee for Emergency Situations Management, issued a statement addressing the weather situation, known as the "Al-Rayyan Groove." Following continuous monitoring of weather developments by the Central Committee for Emergency Situations Management, the decision to suspend work in rehabilitation centers and nurseries was made for Sunday, March 10th, 2024. Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, March 11th, 2024.

The National Early Warning Center for Multiple Risks has issued alerts indicating the onset of varying intensity rainfall over several governorates, including Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, and Al Dhahirah. These regions are expected to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, potentially leading to flash floods.

As a precautionary measure, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has advised all residents to take necessary precautions during rainfall and flash flood occurrences.

The weather forecast predicts intense hailfall, strong downdraft winds, and rough sea waves along most coastlines.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure personal safety and property protection during adverse weather conditions. Stay tuned for further updates and adhere to local authorities' guidelines for weather-related advisories.
