Omani mountaineer Sulaiman Hamoud Al Na’abi has reached new heights—literally! He successfully summited Mount Carstensz (4,884m), Indonesia’s highest peak, marking a historic milestone in his mountaineering career.

With this achievement, Al Na’abi becomes the first Omani to complete the prestigious Seven Summits Challenge under both internationally recognized classifications. His record-breaking journey has taken him to the highest peaks across all seven continents, including Everest (8,849m) and Lhotse (8,516m).

Reflecting on his latest climb, Al Na’abi shared, “The adventure began on February 18, when I arrived in Timika, West Papua. After securing permits, my team and I reached the base camp on February 28 and immediately prepared for the ascent. Finally, I made it to the summit.”

He described Mount Carstensz as one of the most technically challenging peaks of the Seven Summits due to its steep, rocky terrain and extreme climbing conditions. “The mountain is located in a remote part of Papua’s dense forests, making access difficult. The unpredictable weather, heavy rainfall, and dense fog further complicate the climb,” he added.

With this latest feat, Al Na’abi continues to cement his place in Omani sports history, proving that with determination and resilience, no peak is too high to conquer!
