The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has confirmed that Oman's citizens can now edit their personal information and replace photographs in their passports.

The ROP explained that citizens can edit the information based on the data recorded in the civil registry when obtaining a passport or renewing one.

Requests to edit this information can be made to the relevant authorities.

Information in the civil registry database will remain unchanged despite the edits made to the passports.

The information in this database will only be edited according to the previously established system.

Personal photographs in passports were previously required to include photos from the age of 15 and above, with the requirement of wearing the Omani turban (musar) for men.

However, with the new regulation, citizens can choose between wearing a formal Omani outfit or any general outfit.

The service to make these changes to the passport is available at some service centers in Muscat.

The service will be extended to other areas once the technical aspects of this service are completed.

The fee to access this service is RO 5 for people aged under 18 years old, while the service costs RO 10 for individuals aged 18 and above.

The ROP emphasized that accessing this service is optional, based on the individual's preference when obtaining a passport or renewing one.
