Oman's Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz) has installed charging devices for electric vehicles at its premises in Muscat.
This move comes as a new service for investors who visit the premises and to encourage employees to own electric vehicles.
Oman authorities aim to encourage more residents to switch to greener transportation options in line with the government's efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
Abdulmajeed bin Abdullah Al Ansari, General Manager of the Support Services Sector at Opaz, said: "As a first phase, Opaz installed a charging device for electric vehicles in the designated parking lots in Opaz premises in Muscat. This comes as part of a gradual initiative that includes increasing the number of devices in the buildings in Muscat and of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm."
"Further, Opaz will make the electric vehicles charging service available in all the existing and under development free and economic zones and industrial cities that are affiliated with Opaz," Al Ansari said.
He further explained that bringing the electric vehicles chargers reflects Opaz plan to own some electric vehicles for official use in Muscat on an experimental basis.
These new charging devices will provide several advantages for the Opaz employees and visitors, as they will provide fast and effective charging for various types of electric vehicles, and enhance the charging experience safely and smoothly while users complete their work.
