Oman has launched the first phase of a Virtual Tour project aimed at giving users around the world a unique experience of the country's landscapes and landmarks. This new project is a collaboration between the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the National Survey Authority, and Google, under the patronage of Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense.

Bringing Oman to the World Virtually

The Virtual Tour project allows users to virtually explore Oman’s most iconic sites, from its ancient history to its modern infrastructure. The first phase focuses on UNESCO World Heritage sites like Khor Rori, showcasing the country’s cultural richness and breathtaking landscapes.

A Step Toward Digital Innovation and Tourism Growth

The initiative reflects Oman’s ongoing efforts to push digital innovation and provide global audiences with an accessible way to experience the nation’s beauty. With images captured using specialized “Trekkers” devices, the project covers about 36,000 kilometers, giving viewers a closer look at the diversity of Oman's top attractions.

What's Next for the Project

This is just the beginning. The project is set to expand in 2025, offering even more sites and destinations for users to discover. The goal is to create a complete virtual experience of Oman, attracting global tourists and businesses while showcasing the country’s unique cultural and natural heritage.
