Jabal Al Akhdar’s second edition of the 'Rummana' event attracted a whopping 51,078 visitors, more than doubling the attendance from last year’s 22,482.

Running from July 4 to September 28 in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, this unique festival blends eco-tourism with cultural immersion, offering a distinct experience for locals and tourists alike.

Organized by Tibi Tourism Development Company in partnership with the Tourism Agriculture Development Company, 'Rummana' is part of a broader initiative to promote environmentally friendly tourism. The event also aims to pass down agricultural knowledge to younger generations while boosting the local economy.

Engineer Khalid bin Hamad Al Aghbari, Head of Field Work at Janaen (Tourism Agriculture Development Company), highlighted the event's positive impact on local enterprises. "This year, we saw participation from 45 small and medium-sized businesses, enhancing exposure for local producers," he said.

Fruit sales alone exceeded 5,000 kilograms, generating about OMR 10,000. The project, focused on pomegranate trees, harvested 8.5 tonnes of fruit from 667 trees.

Al Aghbari attributes the rise in visitors to the event's overlap with the "Summer of the Green Mountain" festival, which featured cultural, social, and sports activities aimed at promoting the region’s natural beauty and heritage.

Al-Amjad bint Hilal Al Maawali, partner and founder of Tibi Tourism Development Company, emphasized the immersive experience offered to visitors. “'Rummana' allowed visitors to explore the lush pomegranate orchards while enjoying diverse activities such as workshops, cultural events, and family-friendly areas," she said.

With a variety of restaurants, cafes, and spaces dedicated to children's games and local products, the event became a hub for community engagement, cultural appreciation, and eco-tourism.

Al Maawali also noted the festival's role in elevating Jabal Al Akhdar’s reputation as a top tourist destination in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. By linking agriculture and tourism, 'Rummana' supports local farmers in marketing their produce, further contributing to the growth of both sectors.
