Qatar Witnesses Significant Increase in Visitors This Year
In June of this year, there were much more tourists to Qatar than there were in June of last year when there were just 24,293 visitors.
On a yearly basis, the number of visitors increased by over 499 percent. In June 2022, the GCC countries received 59,620 tourists, accounting for 41% of total visitors.
The Planning and Statistics Authority revealed data yesterday showing that 88,054 of the total number of tourists arrived in Qatar by air, followed by 48,021 by land, and 9,566 by sea.
10,134 visits came from neighboring Arab nations, followed by 2399 from African nations, 33,790 from Asia and Oceania, 24,502 from Europe, and 15,196 from the Americas, according to PSA.
The 102nd issue of the "Qatar: Monthly Statistics" bulletin was published by the Planning and Statistics Authority. In addition, it indicates that more new driver's licenses will be issued in June 2022 than in May 2022, at a monthly rate of 44.9 percent and an annual increase of 136.8 percent (compared to June 2021).
The biggest percentage increase—82 percent—was seen in the issuance of new licenses to non-Qatari men, with monthly changes of 39.8 percent (compared to May 2022) and annual changes of 155.4 percent (compared to June 2021).
8,011 new vehicles were registered in total during the month of June 2022. In comparison to May 2022, this statistic represented a monthly increase of 22.6 percent and an annual increase of 53.1% due to the 5232 automobiles that were registered in June 2021.
In June 2022 compared to May 2022, traffic offenses decreased by more than 18%, according to the data. In June 2022, there were 746 traffic accident cases overall, a monthly reduction of 9.2 percent and an annual increase of 36.1 percent. In the same month, 92 percent of road accidents resulted in light injuries, while only 6% of incidents resulted in severe injuries.
When compared to May 2022, the total value of sold properties climbed by 109.6% in June 2022, representing an average annual rise (in comparison with June 2021).
The rise in total commercial bank deposits and other credit facilities at a monthly rate of 1.7 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively (compared to May 2022), and an annual increase of 2.4 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively, are also among the most noticeable increases (compared to June 2021).
The entire population of Qatar increased from 2.50 million in June 2021 to 2.66 million at the end of June 2022, according to demographic figures.
Additionally, during June 2022, there was a monthly increase of 8.4% for marriage contracts and 21.94% for divorce certificates, respectively. The overall number of divorce lawsuits reached 267, as opposed to the 373 marriage contracts that were signed.
In Qatar, social security was valued at QR79 million in June 2022, with 14,436 beneficiaries.
Additionally, during June 2022, there was a monthly increase of 8.4% for marriage contracts and 21.94% for divorce certificates, respectively. The overall number of divorce actions reached 267, as opposed to the 373 marriage contracts that were signed.
