Global Recycling Day falls on March 18 each year; on this occasion, we will shed light on Recapp, the UAE’s first free-of-charge door-to-door recycling service that was launched for the first time in Abu Dhabi, and then expanded to Dubai.

About Recapp Initiative

After the remarkable success of the UAE’s first free-of-charge door-to-door recycling Recapp, launched in Abu Dhabi in 2020, it expanded to reach Dubai. The Recapp service initiative aims to support local communities as they strive to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle by providing the opportunity for individuals, businesses, and government entities to exchange recyclable and reusable material through an online platform. The platform offers an easy and efficient way to schedule pick-ups for plastic bottles and aluminum cans completely free of charge.

How to Use Recapp Abu Dhabi and Dubai

People living in Abu Dhabi and Dubai can benefit from Recapp services by following these steps:

  • Download the app from the App Store or Google Play

  • Schedule a pick-up time at their convenience

  • Recapp will then collect the recyclables from the user’s doorstep and recycle them for FREE

Note that each time users recycle, they earn points based on the weight of the collected recyclables, and they can redeem the collected points with the company’s reward partners.

What Does Recapp do With the Collected Recyclables

The collected recyclables get transported to Recapp’s warehouse in Al Quoz; the plastic bottles and aluminum cans will be segregated and baled, with a daily segregation capacity of one tonne. Recapp collaborates with many companies that can benefit from the recyclables, such as Al Ain Water, Agthia, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, FrieslandCampina, PepsiCo and Unilever, and Cotton Home.
