Mexican F1 driver Sergio Perez is leaving Red Bull two years before the end of his contract after reaching a termination agreement with the F1 team.
The news has come after Perez's weak performance in the 2024 F1 season in which he failed to win a race and finished on the podium only four times while his teammate Max Verstappen won his fourth F1 world championship this season.
After the news came out, Perez said, "I'm incredibly grateful for the past four years with Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team."
Verstappen shared a sweet message on social media, bidding farewell to his teammate by saying, "It’s been an absolute pleasure driving alongside you 🙏 We’ve had some amazing moments together that I’ll always remember. Thank you, Checo!"
RB's Liam Lawson is expected to replace Perez who has completed eleven grand prix only.
