Sohar Fort to be Temporarily Closed till This Date

Sohar Fort, located in Al Batinah Governate, will be temporarily closed to visitors from Jan. 8 to Jan. 16, according to the announcement made by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.
Locals and residents making plans to visit the fort during this period are requested to postpone their plans.
Tourists who had included the iconic cultural landmark in their itinerary are also requested to postpone their visit or change their itinerary.

According to the ministry, the Sohar Fort will be opened to the public on Jan. 17.
Sohar Fort
The fort dates back to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. The fort is now home to a small museum, which was first opened on Nov. 17 1993 on the occasion of the 23rd National Day.
Sohar Fort provides an insight into Oman's history of cultural development and trade.
The museum also highlights Islamic history and Oman's contribution to the development of the field of navigation.
