Stutterers in Saudi Arabia celebrated their International Day, which falls on the twenty-second of October each year, and broadcast on various social media platforms videos of their ability to speak fluently within a voluntary community initiative launched via Twitter, to help people with stuttering, give them information and direct them to speech-language pathologists.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of stuttering for the largest segment of society, as well as educate the community about stutters, and how to deal with them.
Stuttering is a speech disorder that involves frequent and significant problems with normal fluency and flow of speech, and it may be worse when the person is excited, tired, or under pressure, and it usually begins between the ages of two and five years. It is noteworthy that if it lasts for a longer period, it needs a therapeutic intervention.
