The Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation and Primary Health Care, Sidra Medicine, and the private health sector, celebrates the World Immunization Week from 24 to 30 April under the slogan (A long life for all), which was chosen by the World Health Organization as a slogan for this year’s celebration.

The celebration aims to shed light on the importance of obtaining vaccinations and how immunization contributes to saving the lives of community members by not being exposed to diseases whose complications can lead to death, in addition to supporting community members to obtain the necessary vaccinations against diseases that can be prevented through immunization for themselves and their children.

In this context, awareness campaigns are intensified by broadcasting videos on the importance of vaccinations on electronic screens in a number of important commercial centers. Awareness is also strengthened among auditors of a number of primary health care centers, private centers, and clinics, in addition to the dissemination of awareness messages about vaccinations. Dr. Hamad Eid Al-Rumaihi, Director of Health Protection and Control of Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Public Health, said that vaccinations are among the most successful interventions in the field of public health, as they contribute to strengthening the immune system in the human body with great effectiveness, and thus provide it with protection from infectious diseases that may lead to infection to Serious diseases, consequences and complications that may reach the point of death

He added that the national vaccination program in the State of Qatar is one of the best programs in the world in terms of the quality of the vaccinations used and the high coverage rates, which prompted the World Health Organization to praise the program as one of the best vaccination programs in the world in terms of efficiency.

For her part, Dr. Mona Al Maslamani, Medical Director of the Communicable Disease Center at Hamad Medical Corporation, said that vaccinations represent an effective and appropriate way to protect individuals and entire communities from many diseases.

She pointed out that routine vaccines are considered the best tool available to combat infectious diseases, as they represent an effective and appropriate way to protect individuals and societies from many diseases by making people immune or resistant to them by stimulating the body's immune system.

In his turn, Dr. Khaled Al-Awad, Director of Health Protection at the Preventive Health Department at the Primary Health Care Corporation, said that the Corporation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health, provides vaccination services to citizens and residents through primary health care centers spread in the State of Qatar, where vaccination services are provided to various groups, including children, adults and travelers

It is noteworthy that in 2020, the World Health Assembly endorsed the Immunization Plan 2030. This vision, developed by the World Health Organization and its partners in the field of immunization, calls for the expansion of the use of vaccination in all stages of life considering this a strategic priority for this new decade.
