December 16th is the National Day of Bahrain, also known as the "Pearl of the Gulf." However, the celebrations for National day continue with two public holidays, the 16th and 17th of December.
What is the History of Bahrain?
In the Persian Gulf, on an island, is the Kingdom of Bahrain. Bahrain is a stunning archipelago with 50 natural and 33 manmade islands. In the 1960s, the island, along with several other Arabian Gulf areas, was a British Protectorate.
The worldwide setting changed dramatically as a result of World War II, and Bahrain was no exception. Unease with British control had been heating up for a while which resulted in numerous protests. Bahrain was ultimately released from its status as a British Protectorate on August 15, 1971, when the two nations formally signed the agreement. Four months later, Britain left, and Bahrain gained independence.
The first to ascend the throne after Bahrain became independent was Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa. He was a monarch who was well-liked by his citizens and introduced a number of changes that improved the stability and economy of the nation. During the emir's 38-year rule, Bahrain developed to become the Arabian Gulf's financial center. How is the National Day Celebrated in Bahrain?
All public institutions, companies, and schools are closed for two days. The kingdom marks the holiday with fireworks, laser shows, exhibitions, and cultural events.
