The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have started on Tuesday the trial phase of an early warning broadcast service (EWS) on weather conditions via mobile phones in Muscat Governorate.
The goal of doing this was to make sure weather alerts go to consumers as quickly as possible.
The service includes broadcasting guidelines for transmitting messages of warning against all types of calamities, such as hurricanes, tsunamis, severe rains, strong winds, and poor horizontal visibility.
