UAE Labour Day: What the Country has Done to Help Workers
Today 1 May, marks the International Workers day also known as Labour Day, which celebrates people who work in various sectors around the world. The UAE is known for launching and implementing many plans to help workers in different sectors have a better life in the UAE.

To celebrate this day, here’s a list of accomplishments by the UAE towards facilitating workers life in the UAE.
UAE Gold Visa:
The UAE’s 10-year golden residency visa scheme was expanded to include professionals in more categories.
Those categories include PhD degree holders, Doctors, Engineers, Highly Qualified Individuals, Researches/Scientists, Inventors, Artist, Investors.
5 Years Visa
Professionals who can obtain a 5-year visa, such as
Entrepreneurs: This category includes those having an existing project with a minimum capital of Dh500,000, or those who have the approval of an accredited business incubator in the country.
Outstanding students: This includes students with a minimum grade of 95 per cent in public and private secondary schools university students within and outside the country having a distinction GPA of at least 3.75 upon graduation.
Abu Dhabi's Creative Visa
The Creative Visa can be granted to individuals working in specific fields.
These fields should be within the cultural and creative industries, such as heritage, performing arts, visual arts, design and crafts, gaming and e-sports, media and publishing.
Residency Programme for Overseas Professionals
Allows overseas professionals to work remotely for one year as working virtually in the foreseeable future might just be the new norm.
It also promises that visa holders of this programme will also have access to all the required services including, telecoms, utility and schooling facilities. It encourages applicants to bring family members to partake of all the activities that Dubai has to offer.
100% Ownership of Companies
UAE cabinet also approved 100% foreign ownership of companies in the country, which has previously been limited to those companies based in freezones.
Increasing Jobs for Emiratis
The Executive Council approved the formation of the Emirati Human Resources Development Council established to enhance Dubai’s efforts to qualify, train, employ and retain Emirati human resources and improve government and private sector collaboration.
