For 2023, the UAE Cabinet declared official holidays. There will be a few long weekends for residents to enjoy and spend time with their families and friends.
In April 2023, during Eid Al Fitr, UAE residents will have their first long weekend of the year. The first public holiday for New Year's, 1st January, falls on a Sunday. Hence, residents will not experience a long weekend to kick-start the New Year 2023.
Based on calculations made using the Gregorian calendar and astronomical data, the long weekend should commence from Thursday, April 20, through Sunday, April 23, 2023, with Islamic Hijri calender dates from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3. These dates are subject to change depending on the moon sighting.
Other events with long weekends include the celebrations of Eid Al Adha, which will take place from Tuesday, June 27, to Friday, June 30, the Hijri New Year, which will occur on Friday, July 21, and the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which will occur on September 29.
