The UAE government has decided to waive all traffic fines for Omani citizens from 2018 to 2023.

The move comes after Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq paid a state visit to the UAE when he held talks with the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.

The two struck deals related to renewable energy, technology, and rail infrastructure.

Another important UAE-Oman venture the Hafeet Rail also entered the construction stage after this state visit.

This railway project will connect Abu Dhabi with Sohar and with the north of Muscat.

The announcement for waiving traffic fines was made on Friday, Apr. 26 after the Dubai Police waived traffic fines in the UAE for Apr. 16 when the country was hit by severe storms.

Sharjah Police also announced a 50 percent discount on traffic fines to support rain-affected people.

The UAE government's new initiative will support Omani citizens living in the UAE and affected by the recent storms in the country.
