What to Do This Weekend in Qatar
Ever pondered the ideal weekend itinerary for Qatar? Whatever your ideal weekend is, getting where you need to be as quickly and efficiently as possible will undoubtedly involve transportation. I don't know about you, but for most travelers, traveling from point A to point B is the most tiresome part of any trip—especially on weekends! So, what is the answer, you ask? Let us introduce you to Sila, the public transportation system in Qatar.
What is Sila?
The public transportation systems in the State of Qatar are united under the brand Sila to provide a seamless network. Currently, it consists of taxis, buses, trams, and the metro.
Awaken your senses at Qatar's cultural hotspots
So, let's assume you enjoy art, culture, history, and other things, and your ideal weekend would be spending a day touring a few exhibits and museums. How would you go about doing that without having to worry about the transportation side, such as locating parking or shelling out cash for private vehicle providers? Together, let's schedule your weekend!
Use the Sila app to locate any metro line that is headed in the direction of Education City and start your journey from there. The Sila app will direct you to board the tram at the next stop to either Mathaf (The Arab Museum of Modern Art) or the Seero Fi Al-Ardh Carousel, or both, once you arrive at Education City. If you still have a hankering for another cultural experience, you may perhaps use Sila to board the tram from Education City that will take you to the metro station from whence you can take the Metro Green line to Msherieb.
When you get at Msherieb, you can ride the Smart City tram to Bin Jelmood House, a museum that honors former slaves in Qatar and around the globe and recognizes their contribution to the advancement of human civilizations. No matter where you are heading, Sila combines many public transportation options (in this case, the Doha metro and trams) to give you the most intelligent and practical travel experience.
Discover thrilling sports adventures
If the arts and culture aren't your choices, don't worry; Sila's Weekend Wonderland has something for everyone. If you're one of the many fitness enthusiasts in Qatar who likes to stay as active as possible on the weekends, Sila can take you there! Using the red line of the Doha metro, one may travel to the Corniche for a stroll before continuing on to the Katara Hills for a pleasant run. If your heart is still racing, utilize Sila to board the metro's gold line and travel to Sports City for a swimming lesson.
Unwind at trendy eateries & cafes
Feeling peckish from all that exercise? Foodies in Qatar gather to ride the Sila on the red line of the metro to Legtaifiya, where they change to the Lusail tram and travel to Marina Promenade. You can walk to the Lusail Marina Food Arena from the Promenade station; it's delicious! What about dessert? Reboard the Lusail Tram, get off at Legtaifiya, and then take the bus (another way of transportation operated by Sila), or continue riding until you reach the West Bay stop. Either way, you'll have an infinite supply of sweet selections to choose from at the Pearl or in downtown West Bay.
