Mattel Launches Blind and Down-Syndrome Barbie Dolls

If you love Barbie, you'll be happy to know that Mattel has launched two diversity-inclusive Barbie dolls including a blind Barbie doll and a black Barbie doll with Down syndrome.

With this launch, Mattel furthers its inclusivity initiative. The blind Barbie doll has a cane and her gaze is different from other dolls. She is dressed in vibrant clothes made from Velcro, which are considered for children with low vision and children who are blind.

The packaging for the blind Barbie doll features braille to help the blind children play with the doll.

The black Down Syndrome Barbie doll is short and round with the physical features of someone with Down Syndrome.

The doll's dress is blue and yellow, which are the colors of Down Syndrome awareness. The three arrows featured in the dress' pattern symbolize the 21st chromosome that individuals with Down Syndrome have.

These dolls are perfect for blind children, children with low vision, and children with Down Syndrome.
