Oman Announces Eid al-Adha 2024 Holidays

In line with the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Oman has announced the Eid al-Adha holidays for 1445 AH.

The holiday period for employees of the State’s Administrative Apparatus, other legal entities, and private sector establishments will commence on Sunday, June 16, 2024, and continue until Thursday, June 20, 2024. Work will resume on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

This means that employees in Oman will enjoy a 9-day holiday, combining the weekends before and after the Eid al-Adha holidays.

The holiday begins with Arafah Day, the holiest day in Islam, which falls on Dhul Hijjah 9 according to the Hijri calendar. Following Arafah Day, employees will observe a four-day holiday for Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. These days correspond to Dhul Hijjah 10 to 13 on the Hijri calendar.

The Ministry of Labour has clarified that employers may require employees to work during the holiday if necessary, provided that workers are compensated for the holiday.
