Oman Declares Public Two-Day Holiday for National Day

In celebration of its National Day, the Sultanate of Oman has declared an official holiday, providing a midweek break for workers across the country.

The Oman News Agency (ONA) confirmed that a Royal Decree has set Wednesday and Thursday, November 20 and 21, 2024, as holidays for employees in both public administrative units and private sector organizations.

The decree specifies that if work is essential on these days, employees should be compensated according to existing regulations. The announcement allows residents and citizens to mark the nation’s historic day with festivities and time spent with loved ones.

Oman National Day is a festive and joyful occasion that celebrates the sultanate's history, identity, culture, and achievements. It commemorates the day when Oman gained independence from Portuguese colonization in 1650, making it the oldest independent state in the Arab world.

The celebration of Oman National Day provides an opportunity for Omanis to showcase their loyalty and gratitude towards their nation.

Oman National Day is celebrated on the 18th of November every year and is an official public holiday.
