Oman Launches New Autism Care Centre in Muscat
- Publish date: since 5 days

Oman is set to launch a dedicated Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) care centre in Muscat, with a significant OR 7 million investment approved by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The centre, which will be based in the Seeb area, aims to provide high-quality rehabilitation, care, and recreational services for individuals with ASD.
A New Step Toward Inclusive Care
This new facility, linked with the National Autism Centre, is expected to provide comprehensive services designed to improve the lives of individuals with autism. Located on a 26,000-square-metre site, the centre will cater to around 150 people per day. The facility will be the first in the Middle East to offer such a wide range of specialized services for individuals with autism.
National Assessment and Future Expansion
In addition to the centre's construction, the Royal Orders call for a nationwide study to evaluate the need for similar centres in other parts of Oman. This study will help determine where further facilities are required based on the number of autism cases in each region, with future timelines set accordingly.
Comprehensive Services for Individuals and Families
The new centre will not only focus on rehabilitation and care but will also include dedicated spaces for recreational activities. Specialized therapy halls will feature modern tools and technologies to help individuals with ASD integrate better socially. It will also offer families training and support services to help them better understand and care for their loved ones.
The facility will also serve as a national hub for training professionals in the field of autism care. It will be responsible for granting licenses to practitioners and providing continuous professional development for both specialists and families across Oman.
