Oman has reached new heights—literally. The nation’s first AI-powered satellite, OL-1, has proudly shared images carrying the Sultanate’s flag on its maiden voyage into space, announced by Lens Oman via its official social media.

This AI-powered satellite marks a pioneering chapter in Oman's space journey, showcasing its commitment to innovation and exploration.

Lens Oman also posted an awe-inspiring video captured by OL-1’s 360-camera, featuring the captivating dance of the aurora from space. “Witness the breathtaking beauty of the aurora as seen from Oman’s first AI-powered satellite,” read the post. The satellite symbolizes Oman’s dedication to advancing space technology and contributing to sustainable global insights.

The release of these visuals comes as Oman celebrates its 54th National Day. Lens Oman extended heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the people of Oman, wishing continued progress and prosperity for the nation.

Launched successfully on November 11, 2024, OL-1 is officially registered with the International Telecommunication Organization (ITU). Specializing in remote sensing and earth observation, this optical satellite stands out as a locally developed project integrating advanced AI capabilities.
