Replacing a Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Emirates ID Card Guide

In the event that your Emirates ID card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you will have to refer directly to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) and request a replacement. Here are the steps you should follow:

  1. Refer to the Authority and Report the Incident

Approach the nearest Customer Happiness Center of the ICA to report the incident, and request a replacement. The authority will deactivate the old lost card and issue you a stamped certificate bearing the same ID number. In case of damaged cards, you should bring the original ID card to be replaced.

Below are the necessary identification documents when reporting the incident:

  • Original valid passport and family book (for UAE nationals)
  • Proof of residency (for GCC nationals)
  • The original passport stamped with a valid residency permit (for expatriate residents)
  • Birth certificate and a colored personal photo with a white background (for children under the age of 15)
  1. Apply for ID Replacement

After reporting the incident, you can apply for the replacement of a lost/damaged ID card through one of the following channels:

  • ICA’s Customer Happiness Centers
  • Online form on the ICA website
  • ICA UAE application available on iTunes and Google Play
  1. Pay Fees

The applicant should pay AED 300 for ID card replacement, in addition to the application fee of AED 70 if submitted through typing centers, or AED 40 if submitted online through the eform on the ICA’s website. In the event of a request for express service, an extra amount of AED 150 will be added.

  1. Receive Your New ID card

ICA informs applicants about the status of their request through SMS along with the expected date of receipt. Usually, a replacement for lost or damaged items is issued within 48 hours of submitting the application, and within 24 hours to customers applying for express service. After receiving a text message from the authority that the card is ready, the applicants must contact Emirates Post to receive the card from the post office.

Please note that the card will be replaced for the same period of validity as the remaining validity of the replaced card.
